This Is How Our Story Began
Taylor Andrews, one of the nations most prestigious cosmetology schools, was founded by award-winning salon owners Larry and Sherri Curtis, who have nearly 30 years of experience in the salon industry.
In 1987 after graduating from college with a degree in business, Larry and his wife Sherri, a Stylist and Makeup Artist, started Dallas Roberts Salons (named after their oldest son). Through smart business practices and incredible customer service, Dallas Roberts grew to three salons, one of which was named to Salon Today’s 200 Hottest Salons list. After becoming disappointed with the quality of new applicants at the salons, Larry decided to make a difference by starting his own cosmetology school, the result of which is Taylor Andrews (named after their youngest son). In just over 15 years, Taylor Andrews has won numerous awards and has earned a reputation as one of the nations finest schools. Taylor Andrews currently has nearly 400 students in West Jordan, Orem, and St. George, Utah.

Rodrick Samuels
Education Director
Rodrick is recognized as a renowned leader in cutting-edge educational methods in clipper cutting concepts and techniques; including the current trend of mechanical shear practices.
Des DeJesus
Academy Director
Des is our highly skilled Academy Director. She helps the student when they have issues or concerns. She'll work with our students to make sure they are achieving their academic, attendance and overall goals while they're here with us. Additionally she'll work closely with the students teaching life skills used in everyday life and skills to become successful in the barbering industry.
Alicia Gardner
Admissions Director / Financial Aid Assistant
Alicia is someone who does a lot of the background work for Hair Lab Detroit including a lot of the technical work needed. She does a great job working to get students enrolled in our program and is very knowledgeable with financial aid as well With her Cosmetology background she knows what it's like being a student and is always around to help the students if needed.

Candace Cummings
Front Desk Coordinator / Admissions Assistant / Social Media Manager
Candace is one of the first people you'll meet here at Hair Lab Detroit. With her bright and bubbly personality she is sure to make you smile while you're here, while doing an excellent job at running the front desk. She also manages our social media and assists Ms. Alicia with any admissions tasks when needed.
Maria Lynn
Instructor
Maria is a hard working instructor who does everything and anything for her students. With her amazing cutting skills, her students know she has their back and will gain as much knowledge as possible
Dr. Tamone Wood
Instructor
Dr wood is a hard working instructor and a great asset to our team. Not only is he a licensed barber and barber instructor, but he also has his doctorate degree in barbering as well.
Joseph Wright
Instructor
Joe is a hard working instructor who always loves to lend a helping hand. He has tons of experience and our students love to learn from him.
SaZuan Judkins
Instructor
SaZuan R. Judkins, known professionally as Suge the Barber, is a businessman from the eastside of Detroit, Michigan. As a natural born leader, Sazuan got his start with the art of barbering in 2013 while in Huntsville, Alabama, where he attended Alabama A&M University.
